Questions mamas ask me
The honest answers, written down so you do not have to ask. If your question is not here, reply to any of my emails and I will answer you myself.
About journaling through grief
the questions that stop people before they startDo I have to be a good writer?
No. Nothing here is graded. Messy handwriting, crossed-out lines, three words on a page — that is all still journaling. If you can write a shopping list, you can do this.
How often should I write?
As often as you can manage, and no more. Some mamas write every day, some once a month. The free guide is laid out over four weeks, but nothing expires and there is no streak to keep.
What if I sit down and nothing comes?
Write the words "nothing comes." Or describe the room you are sitting in — the colour of the wall, the noise the fridge makes. Small counts as started.
What if I feel nothing at all?
Numbness is common, especially in the early months. When the words will not come, try listing three things you saw, three you heard, and three things you did not eat. It is a way in that does not ask you to feel anything first.
Will it make me feel worse?
Some pages will bring tears, and that is usually what they are for. If a page becomes too much, close it and come back on another day. You set the pace, and you are allowed to stop in the middle.
Do I have to keep what I write?
No. Some mamas keep every page. Others tear them up the same night. Both are fine — the writing has already done its work either way.
Is journaling a replacement for therapy?
No. Journaling is something you can do at 2 a.m. when nobody is available. It is not a substitute for a doctor, a therapist, or a grief counsellor, and if you are struggling to get through the day please reach out to one.
About the guide, the printables and the workbook
what is free, what you print, what you keepWhat is the difference between the free guide, the printable and the workbook?
The free 4-Week Grief Journaling Guide is thirty gentle prompts, one small page at a time, sent to your inbox. From Grief to Hope is the companion printable — the pages you would want to keep and reprint. The Grieving Mother Workbook goes deeper, for the days that ask more of you.
Do I have to buy anything?
No. The free guide, the monthly notes and the weekly circle are free, and nothing here is a trial or a teaser for a paid thing. The paid pieces exist so the free ones can keep being free.
Do I need a printer?
No. Everything opens on a phone, and plenty of mamas type straight into their notes app instead. Printing is simply one option.
Can I print the printable more than once?
Yes. It is yours to keep and reprint, for yourself and for another mama who needs it.
Do I have to do the pages in order?
No. Open wherever you want and skip anything that does not fit today. Nothing is checking.
Is the paperback the same as the workbook?
The Journey of a Grieving Mother paperback is the printed version, bound and shipped by Amazon. The workbook is the digital version you can print or fill in on a screen. The content is the same; the shape is different.
Can I buy one as a gift for someone?
Yes. A few mamas send a workbook to a friend and keep the guide for themselves. If you would rather not explain it, send the address — unbridledblooms.com — and let her choose for herself.
About the wellness products I mention
what they are, and the honest answer about what they doWhat are the wellness products you mention?
They are the ones I take myself. Zilara Fulvic Minerals is the pouch I keep on the counter. I mention them because I use them, not because anyone is paying me to mention them.
Do they help with grief?
No, and I will not pretend otherwise. Grief is not something a supplement fixes. I take them for my own routine and energy. Nothing on this site is medical advice, and none of it replaces a doctor.
Do you earn something when I buy them?
Yes — I earn a small commission when you buy through my link, at no extra cost to you. It helps keep the free guide free. If you would rather buy elsewhere, I understand completely.
Where do I get them?
At zilara.com/Janina. It opens in a new tab, and you can buy there without ever coming back to this site.
Some links on your pages say Sponsored. What does that mean?
It means that link earns me a small commission at no extra cost to you. The Amazon links carry the same thing: as an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. I only list things I actually use.
There is no right way to do any of this. You are not behind, and nobody here is keeping score.
